Well… what can I say about this release? Was it expected? No. Did I ever think I’d be working with one of my all time favourite bands? No. Was this extremely hard to keep under wraps? YEP!
Today I unveil my favourite BTST drop that I’ll probably ever release, the one and god damn only SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY!!
Let’s rewind a few months back, it was early February, Drew & myself were chatting about the upcoming Pittsburgh show and in passing he mentioned that a dude by the name of Blake, was filming the set with old 80’s camcorders and, or at least I thought he was joking, Drew said I should do a run of VHS tapes. Found out he wasn’t kidding. as a huge VHS collector I was damn excited.. My head exploded with excitement! A few weeks later I make the drive out to Pittsburgh and meet up with Blake and the band. We set up cameras, we discuss where to film and then we wait for them to get on, the longest few hours ever! From that day till today, we have been working tirelessly on this thing. Blake edited the whole 2 angle set, Drew mastered the audio, Keith and I worked out the art and materials we’d need. For the most part it was smooth sailing, working with a bunch of geniuses will have that affect.
What are you guys to expect? Let me tell ya! We have an 80min run time! A full 21 song live set with multiple angles, audio from the tapes & pulled from the PA for best quality, full band interviews at the end, VHS tape labels and spine stickers all housed in a clear poly case with double sided artwork by Fox himself(front) and layout by Keith Carlson. Hand numbered by yours truly and limited to 100 copies!
*Let’s remember, the fun about VHS is that there are imperfections. There will be fuzzy parts, the lighting/quality isn’t 1080p, it’s a throwback to the good ol’ days before cellphones captured everything.
I want to thank Drew and the band for even considering doing this with me, I can’t thank you guys enough, not only a huge milestone for myself, but the label as well. Huge thanks to Blake at Imperfect Video for working your wizardry on editing and how to use a 35 year old camera and giving me a quick lesson before the set. Fox and Keith for some wild ass artwork, Good Fight Music for teaming up and letting some rinky dink label use one of their bands! Last but certainly not least, the fans! Huge thanks for the support of the band, myself, and Blake! We are truly thankful for the love.
